台北市文化國小5月29日發生女童割喉案，29歲男子龔重安翻牆進入校園內，在廁所中用水果刀將一名8歲女童割喉，女童送醫後不治死亡。引起社會對死刑存廢爭議。
正在美國訪問的蔡英文，今天在芝加哥接受媒體採訪時，被問到國內廢死爭議，她說，她的立場一致，這件事需要社會有一定的共識，而且要有完整的配套及過渡，用謹慎的態度面對這個問題。
媒體追問她是否支持廢死？她強調，還是要有足夠的社會共識，此外，配套與社會的條件是否成熟，都要一起觀察。
另外，有媒體公布民調指，立法院副院長洪秀柱以50%的民調，大勝蔡英文。對此，蔡英文說，她沒有看到相關報導，但有被告知，這是個蠻有趣的民調，看看就好，她還是祝福洪秀柱。1040602
